This is great! I'm reading her book now to prepare for my first 50 miler next year. Can't wait to listen in.

What 50 miler are you running? Addie is great! Enjoy the chat and good luck with training

I'm not sure yet! hoping I'll get some ideas from you. HA! Curious your recommendation on a FIRST 50 miler. There is one in NY called the Finger Lakes 50s that I'm leaning towards but I'm still undecided at the moment.

Well that is an exciting spot to be in, the world is your oyster! ;) I always tell people to pick one that speaks to them the most. I'm not too familiar with upstate NY ultras, but I'm sure whichever one you decide to choose will be the right one. You gotta follow your gut!

If you really can't choose, message me and I'll put some feelers out there with the community and see what we can find :)

Thanks Adam! I appreciate that. What was your first 50 miler? How did you make the choice? Did you base it on the elevation, terrain or organization of the race. Curious your input whenever you get a chance and if you have already talked about this in your newsletter feel free to direct me a bit so you don't have to retype. :) Much appreciated.

:) All good Julie! I ran the Squamish 50 miler as part of the 50/50 (50 miles Saturday and 50km Sunday). I actually "chose" this race because my "A" race was cancelled due to the pandemic, and Squamish was guaranteed to go forward. I wanted to run a Gary Robbins race (they're big and brutal), as he was coaching me as well, so it made a lot of sense. And I love his races and wanted one of them to be my first long run. The Squamish 50km was my first 50km race as well, so that whole event has a pretty big place in my heart these days.

It definitely helps knowing an event is organized and well run, you know that you will only need to focus on yourself on the big day :)

Short, simple and sweet! I can completely attest to Addie's discussion around application of knowledge. As some one trained in Nutrition I can confirm that knowledge does not always mean action!
