Consider January crushed

We have a new segment (ish?) around here as coach Andrew Miller is taking me under his wing while I run towards Moab Run the Rocks in March. Andrew and I will chat for around five minutes each month about what we’ve been working on, and why we’re working on it. The idea is to give listeners an idea of what it’s like to work towards a goal with a coach. He will switch between giving advice specific to me and to the community at large and give us an idea of why he is doing things. The opportunity to work with a coach and also learn about their process is one I’m excited to share.

January was a great month for me as I felt training really started to fall into place for me. We moved intervals/workouts to Tuesdays and I like having the workout to start the week. I’ve been able to add strength training and yoga to my week as well so that felt good and I’m in a very positive place as we head into February. It was great hearing Andrew feeling really good about the past month and I appreciate his support and enthusiasm for this journey as we close in on Moab!

Moab Run the Rocks

I’m really excited to run this event in Moab, as I’ve never had the chance to visit that area, much less run through it! Houda invited me down and I was thrilled to be able to say yes. This event looks like an absolute blast, Chantelle Erickson took part last year and told me it’s incredible, so I can’t wait to give it a go myself. Here is description from their website:

Moab Run the Rocks lets you pick your poison so you have the best chance of achieving your goals on some of the most sought-after singletrack on the planet. Choose between two stage race lengths—The Full Pint or The Half Pint—each consisting of three stages held over three days.

For runners looking to fill their cup, The Full Pint offers a spectacular route totaling 53.6 miles (85.6 km) and 4,480 ft (1,356 m) of vertical gain. And for those interested in a shorter challenge that doesn’t hold back on thrilling terrain, The Half Pint delivers a route totaling 33.1 miles (53.1 km) and 2,670 ft (811 m) of vertical gain. No matter which length you choose, fun is sure to be had by all during this unique stage race and spring trail running festival.

Registration is limited to 600 runners and sold out for 2025!

You’ll have to put it on your calendars for 2026 after reading about it, and especially after following my adventure along ;)
