“I was still in the porta potty when the gun went off.” - Jacob Puzey
Merry Christmas and happy holidays my friends. It’s an exciting day around here, and it’s time for our holiday special episode. The holiday special is when former guests share their funny trail running stories with all of us, and it’s something I greatly appreciate they take the time to do! This year is a set of fantastic stories that I know you will all enjoy and probably relate to. We have the following awesome people sharing with us:
Ep. 100 Ice Cream, donuts and film fest. With Jeannine Avelino
“We go for the run and then I see them enjoying themselves and then they come back for another run and that's when I know like, okay, this was a good thing. And then I'm glad they stuck with us and I'm glad that we had this event to help draw new people. It's a great sport and everybody should give it a try sometime in a non-pressure situation.”
Ep. 94 Black Lung Ultra. With Nick Lade and Mike Williams
“It's a beautiful setting, great sense of pride in the local community. And we're in a time where people are more inclined to get outside test their boundaries and enjoy themselves. Sports and entertainment is a great way to attract a visitor who has a similar ethics to the one that the community already possesses there and that's why we feel it's a gre…
Ep. 114 Winning the Divide 200. With Allison Powell
It’s a special episode, so we’re doing things a little different here on a Thursday. We’ve got the winner of the Divide 200 Allison Powell on the podcast! Allison is also a fellow substack author and I’m so excited she was able to chat about her experience in Southern Alberta. She was a lot of fun to chat with, and it was very insightful to hear her tal…
Ep. 76 Run Tri Bike Mag. With Jason Bahamundi
“We changed everything to just literally say “the voice of the everyday athlete” and then we started asking people instead of waiting for them to come to us. We went out after them and we said your story matters, tell us your story.”
Ep. 65 5 Peaks. With Jacob Puzey
“I need to be outdoors. And I feel like most people need to be outdoors. I see that in my kids, and I see that in most people in society. But I love seeing how much nature can impact people. It is unlike anything else.”
Ep. 60 Running Sucks. With Raziq Rauf
“A huge part of the newsletter is me finding interesting stories in the running world and, talking to them, and seeing what's up, and getting insights from them because there's some super interesting people in the running world.”
We didn’t get to record our chat with Shelley in Edmonton but I can assure you she was an incredible guest speaking on behalf of Project Love Run.
Ep. 103 Bush Babes and Bros. With Dawna Jodoin
Dawna Jodoin of Bush Babes and Bros loves trail running. She coaches, she organizes clinics, and she’s a race director. Even though it involves a ton of computer time, she still loves being the one to get people onto trails and help them discover Vernon, BC and the surrounding area. This passion for the sport is what has kept her going for so long and w…
It’s been an incredible 2024, and we’re already on pace to top it in 2025. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support. We continue to do the thing and see where we end up, and it’s pretty fun doing this all together. Upwards and onwards friends.
Sincerely,
Adam Lee
